JOB DESCRIPTION
Areas of Study: Environmental Science, Public Health, Urban Management, Sustainability & Climate Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, or related fields.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Legislative Tracking
Monitor the Louisiana State Legislature for bills and resolutions related to water quality, accessibility, affordability, flooding, and drainage, including legislation concerning the Mississippi River, marshlands, and relevant agencies (LDEQ, LDH, LDENR, CPRA).
Support the development of TWC’s 2025 State Legislative Report.
Track legislation and committees in the 119th U.S. federal Congress related to water policy.
Research and Analysis
Conduct research on water-related policies, programs, and initiatives.
Summarize findings in memos or briefs for the Policy Team.
Develop written content, including blogs on local, regional, and national water issues for publication.
Team Collaboration
Attend weekly check-ins with the Policy Team to discuss ongoing projects and goals.
Complete additional research tasks as requested by the Policy Team.
Qualifications:
Interest or knowledge in water policy, environmental justice, public health, or sustainability.
Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to synthesize information from a wide variety of sources for a broad audience.
Demonstrated analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to a flexible schedule.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva is preferred.
Familiarity with Louisiana's political landscape and key environmental issues is a plus.
Learning Opportunities:

Expectations:
Commit to an average of 10–15 hours per week from April to July.
Be punctual and communicate proactively about availability and deadlines.
This is a paid position. We a offer a $400 monthly stipend to be paid the first of the month.
