Water Equity & Climate Resilience Caucus’ Southern Water Call

About the Program

The Southern Water Call (SWC) is a space for community-based, water-focused organizations and partners in the South to have a voice in federal water policy and community advocacy. This group focuses on Southern-specific water policies that benefit our most underserved and underrepresented communities through a collaboration of shared goals, challenges, and knowledge. Our aim is to improve the lives of Southern residents and frontline communities through water justice and climate resilient initiatives that influence federal engagement.

Each year, Southern Water Call members will create a collaborative regional policy agenda to amplify environmental challenges, proposed solutions, and calls-to-action driven by those who live and work in the South. The annual policy agenda will set the stage for others to support and engage in initiatives, projects, and policies led by Southern-based frontline organizations and create impact on a national scale. Quarterly or bi-monthly meetings will be a place to share ideas, support each other’s work, and host trainings and presentations that uplift us all.

Southern Water Call areas of focus include:

  • Water Affordability

  • Water Accessibility

  • Water Quality

  • Wastewater

  • Drinking Water

  • Flood Mitigation

  • Floodplain and Wetlands Protection

  • Coastal Resilience

  • Stormwater

  • Green Infrastructure

  • and more – we welcome all ideas to create a more sustainable, equitable, and water-resilient future for the South!
