Last week we kicked off the Water Justice New Orleans Campaign! With this campaign we hope to create a fund that seeks to develop a new integrated drainage system. This system will address water management, land use, workforce development and capital through an equity-based stormwater fee. At the kickoff we held a presentation to over 100 attendees on what we've already accomplished and gave the community a snapshot of the campaign strategy for 2023. Starting June 2023, we will will go into neighborhoods across New Orleans to facilitate an educational campaign to help residents understand our city’s challenges and receive feedback on our policy recommendations. Our partners and community members who have supported us throughout this campaign also shared why this fund is important. Throughout the event, Friendly Universe serenaded everyone with Jazz Fusion as they enjoyed custom cocktails from The Broadside, snowballs by SweetThangs NOLA, and hot boiled crawfish by NOLA Crawfish King courtesy of the WJF Campaign.
